I like travelling in small groups, but I mostly end up travelling alone.

ABOUT ME

I am a grad student in physics from Hyderabad, India. I am to visit UCSB as an exchange student from the last week of August until the end of November. I am looking for a place to stay while I search for more permanent accommodation in SB.

I am the typical grad student: I am polite and quiet, and will mostly keep to myself; I am also quite chatty once you get me going.

PHILOSOPHY

My work comes first. I've given up a lot for my work, and this comes naturally to me.

I would, of course, prefer the power to change the world for the better. But if that isn't possible, give me the power to understand what needs changing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing will be a new experience for me. I usually just find a youth hostel to stay when I travel.

Interests

Science (popular, serious, academic, philosophy of...),
Politics (only if you want/can take an argument),
Language/linguistics (I speak five languages and understand bits of three or four more).

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot (see under interests), but mostly non-fiction. I am very easy to interest into trying a new book.

I like all kinds of music. Everything from the djent of Skyharbor to the indie rock of (the sadly no-longer-together) Civil Wars.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a summer in Berlin and travelled to the Swiss alps. The view from the cable cars was unbelievable--black and white cows in a background of bright green. It looked like something an artist might paint.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know about 'special' knowledge, but I am an information sponge. I can be interested into learning about anything. I can also give impromptu lectures about anything, although I have been trying to do less of this.
