About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live Laugh Love EAT.

ABOUT ME

I live in a small city, Singapore. Everything in my life has been rather smooth sailing and sheltered I would say throughout my life as a student. My parents are great to have brought me up so comfortably.

I've just graduated in October 2014 from a Degree in Bachelor of Business (Marketing) RMIT, and was intending to work on an adhoc basis before I travelled to Europe to visit my boyfriend. Situation took a change and I'm currently teaching preschoolers at a nature based learning centre opened by my aunt called 'TerraMinds'. Basically learning about nature and science through hands on activities and craft to children aged 3 to 8. I admire my aunt's passion in nature science. Her knowledge and drive towards this is just commendable. Visit www.Terraminds.com.sg if you're interested to know more. :)

I do enjoy craft and art generally. I can put hours into learning something on youtube and then making it. Producing it just gives me a great sense of satisfaction and happiness. This is my hobby. I absolutely love making things. At TerraMinds, creating lesson plans is something new for me as I learn to create lessons applicable to preschoolers. Creating craft every single week is definitely a challenge as I've no art-background but I try my best to create something suitable and adored by the children. Teaching preschoolers has indeed not been easy. A lot of patience come into play! I am actually quite impressed with my works so far for the past few months as well as the way i execute my class. The smiles i receive from children at TerraMinds and positive feedbacks from the parents drives me to do better.

Even so, being a teacher was definitely not what I foreseen myself to be and I am currently still searching for that goal. My future. People often ask me what I want to do in future and I find myself dumbfounded. I do like craft and making things with my trusty hands. But what can my hands bring me? I ask myself. And what can I do with an eye for aesthetics.

So right now, I will take whatever good opportunities that comes by that is necessary for survival as I continue to experience new things and come to a conclusion about what I want. Yes I often beat myself up about why I am not driven. But I thought, being happy and satisfied with whatever I'm doing is sufficient isn't it? This is me.

Taking each day as it goes. Hopefully by next year, I can move on to experiencing a marketing position. Maybe it'll expose me to something to trigger my goal setting even further. :)

And of course with this trip to Europe to visit my boyfriend (https://www.couchsurfing.org/people/kevinsim/), I'm sure what I see will be an eye opener. I have yet to see the world at large and I'm so excited! It would be my very first trip alone to such a faraway place. Can't wait for it at all. If I can, I would love to travel and see the world. Everyone wanderlusts. But circumstances I am in, does not support travelling as yet. 'Travelling broadens the mind and widens your horizon.' That is why I need and want to travel especially with my other half who's so much more street smart than I am. Looking at photos from friends who travel just does not do justice to the location and I get really envious and wish for myself to be there. So I am extremely excited to go to places to explore! - To observe scenic places outside this little red dot of mine, meet new people, try new food and experience cultures I don't come across here. I sure have plenty of years ahead to become more financially stable to allow me to travel! I missed the opportunity to do overseas community service to help the less fortunate way back when i was 13 under a school program. Hopefully I can be able to do something like that in future!

I wouldn't say I'm a traveller unlike my boyfriend who's probably born to travel and make it big. I get envious about people who have such clear goals and opportunities. But everyone has a different fate. So come what may, I think I will have an amazing journey ahead nevertheless. *POSITIVITY*

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right. - Henry Ford. We are all cut out to do things better than what we think we can.

Also, being alone isn't something I have experienced since I am living with my family and friends. I do get a lot of help from my family on all levels. But when I'm actually on my own, I think I am capable of taking care of myself. Cleaning? Sure! I believe it is a responsibility every grown up should have. Cooking.... lousy. But I make do with anything available. Lucky of me to have a family who cooks well, provide well, and a boyfriend who can cook! I am happy with the simplest dishes he cooks for the past few years together. As for company, I love company. All the laughter and joy I receive. But of course, I do spend time alone to do things I like. Neither completely an introvert not a extrovert. I'm definitely a mix of both! :)

PHILOSOPHY

Came across this verse.
Collossians 4:6 - Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

"Let go of things you can't change". Told by my boyfriend years back which I think has helped me thus far.

Be
kind.
patient.
responsible.
loving.

Through it all, be a better person day after day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couch surfing experience and it would be great if my boyfriend and I can find a suitable place and have a good experience with the host and experience a culture we've never experienced in Zurich. I am sure it'll be a meaningful takeaway from this virgin couch surfing.

I believe this will continue to be an option for our future travelling trips together.
