About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Reigniting my wonder for the world and myself.

ABOUT ME

I am writing from the peaceable kingdom I call home up here in Vermont. I am hooked on bicycle touring. I have only done a few week to two week excursions, but am constantly dreaming of that BIG trip. Being on my bike seems like such a natural way to move through the landscape and see all there is. It slows me down. Our world seems to be spinning in an ever increasing pace and cycling seems for me to put the brakes on a bit in all this craziness. It gives me the chance to absorb the sensation of making that slow, rhythmic climb; the wind in your face freedom of flying downhill and the pure amazement on the flats that I can propel myself along so smoothly. I enjoy living a life close to the outdoors and nature both in my job as a landscaper/stone worker and in my free time. My home is surrounded by rivers and mountains in the Green Mountain National Forest. I enjoy running, yoga, dancing, biking and a good deal of wandering through the woods or ambling down a country road. I am very curious of what others bring to this thing we call life and enjoy lively discussions and debate when appropriate. It can also be a precious gift to just sit quietly and observe. My hope is to cross paths with other good people, share stories and that ever escaping thing we call time.

PHILOSOPHY

"Put a stout heart to a steep brae." -I heard this while listening to a story on VPR. It was what the narrators Scottish nanny used to tell him on the sledding hill... it rang true.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am setting out on an open ended bike tour at the moment and this will be my first time participating in the CS project. My hope is to connect with the people, hear their stories and to share mine. When I return home I would love to be able to reciprocate and host other travelers.

Interests

Biking, running, dancing, yoga, cooking, wandering, dreaming, learning... the list could go on and on and on. I also take great enjoyment in the act of sitting still, so much value in such a simple act.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am not a big fan of movies or TV, unless it's a documentary. I love music! It moves me to tears and makes me dance. Music is for me the universal language that can express the true spectrum of emotion. My musical tastes can range anywhere from classical to punk, but I must admit I've got a soft spot for bluegrass songs of heartbreak and despair. Reading is something that can border on obsession for me. The written word does not have the gift to put me to sleep, but awakens all sorts of fantasies and feelings and that keep my mind spinning sometimes too late into the night. Oh, and if it does put me to sleep, it's not for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was born into this world, that seems pretty amazing to me!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my travel by bike stories, my insights and short comings in life. I can share my hopes, my dreams, my cooking, my heart... really I can share a bundle of goodies, but you have to let me stay with you first....oh and I can share my smile!
