CURRENT MISSION

My current mission for the time being is to relax for the summer and takes things easy. I very much enjoy getting to meet new people and hear about their stories and cultures. I love connecting with others from around the States and the World.

ABOUT ME

Update: 2015; living it up in Oregon since last August. My girlfriend and I enjoy camping, hiking, and biking around with our two dogs. We're trying to enjoy every bit of this beautiful state and enjoy good company.

Currently I am a 2011 Teach For America Corps Member in Kansas City, MO. I teach 8th and 9th grade Algebra and enjoy Helping others learn. My friends would probably describe me as funny, sarcastic, outgoing, slightly disorganized but still functional, and a friendly talker. I like meeting different people with different perspectives and I love getting the chance to see and try new things.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel very strongly about working for education equality for all. This was inspired by studies in college of environmental science to which I felt a strong calling to advocate for conservation and education about the way our planet's resources are consumed. I marry the two issues based on my thought that one will not value the urgency of needing to save and conserve until they become properly educated and can sufficiently provide themselves with a sustainable means of living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I got to meet a lot of really awesome people when I opened up my house to surfers during the summer of 2011. I can sympathize with the weary traveller who's in need of a good place to stay, and hopefully I will be able to host again soon.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just recently I had my first encounter with couch surfers. A gentleman from Brazil and a lady from France. Great couple that enjoyed the Barbeque and excused the messy state my house was in due to the end of the school year panic myself and my teacher roommates were going through.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was part of an international student exchange between the University of Arkansas and two Brazilian Universities for a 10 week study program in Sao Paulo and Parana states in Brazil. During this trip I got to see and meet so many places and awesome people.. It is a truly beautiful culture.

During a spring break in college I drove out to the grand canyon national park and went camping for several days during which we hiked around and cooked awesome food. Then we proceeded to go north into Utah at Zion National park. There we went backpacking in the beautiful back country of the park surrounded by high cliffs and valleys. I loved the seclusion from modern society and the views of the night sky.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could provide insight to Urban Education and the history of this matter in Kansas City. I am also well versed on environmental concerns and topics.

Now for more random information: I love discussion of the music and sub culture surrounding the 1960's.
