I generally don't approve violence, but if you ever have to defend your honor, punch the nose with your open palm in a straight line. Hitting with your fist will sprain your wrist. Slapping is for girls. On the other hand, hitting with the ball of thumb is manly, doesn't hurt for you, your opponent goes down immediately, there's some blood, but he won't get seriously injured. (If you have to defend more than your honor, like your life, just run away.)
