About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I've been honing my skills as a New Yorker for a little over a year and a half now, I try (and it isn't hard) to discover something new in this city everyday. When the pressure here starts to drive me crazy I head for a new part of the world,

ABOUT ME

I was born in Tucson, Arizona, USA and spent my formative years there. In fulfillment of all my Will & Grace-fueled childhood dreams, I moved to New York City after college graduation and am so lucky to live right next to beutiful Central Park. I have my degree in art history and classics so I spend a lot of time at the city's museums and galleries. I'm still figuring myself out professionally, I love working in Television but am thinking about soon heading to graduate school to further my arts background.

PHILOSOPHY

R-E-S-P-C-E-T.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While studying abroad in Prague, during college, I couchsurfed in Munich, during Oktoberfest. The experience strongly reinforced for me the idea that one cannot truly appreciate a city or really experience it through a guidebook, you NEED a local!

Interests

Art, art, art. Vienna Secession, Fauves, Impressionism, and lots of other early 20th century movements. The aforementioned are my favorites but by no means the end of my art tastes, I have many favorites all over the artistic spectrum.

I love art, design, cars, left-leaning politics, skiing, and exploring. News reporting and politics are really important to me, I couldn't get by without NPR, The New Yorker, the New York Times and the BBC.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
All over the board taste, just no horror movies. Favorites: Billy Elliot, Giant, Fiddler on the Roof, Paris Je T'Aime, Angles in America, WALL-E, Chicago, The Sound of Music.

Music:
I've really eclectic musical taste. I love Cuban and Spanish as a general rule but I'm also partial to classical, alternative rock, and just about everything on France's Hotmixradio or the UK's BBC1.
Some artists: Linda Ronstadt, Shakira, Afro Cuban All Stars, Juanes, Kylie Minogue, The Beatles, Patsy Cline, Aaron Copland, Fleet Foxes, Robyn, Avicii, Nadia Ali.

Books:
Art-centric novels and history. Some favorites are Brunelleschi's Dome, Michelangelo and the Pope's Ceiling, My Antonia, La Lluvia del Oro, Cadillac Desert, everything Khaled Hosseni and, If the New Yorker can be counted, every single issue of that wonderful magazine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was so lucky to study in Prague during college, that city will be with me for the rest of my life. I've done a lot of travel in Western and Central Europe, the furthest east I've yet gotten is incredible Istanbul.

In the U.S. I've been immensely lucky to visit almost all 50 states during family vacations and four coast-to-coast road trips. This is a wild place and never ceases to amaze.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom
