About Me

We're a recently engaged Canadian couple heading to Australia for a year abroad.

Grace Kerschner (IG: @grace.anna.maria)
I'm Grace (23F), I recently graduated from my BScN program and I work as an registered nurse at one of our local hospitals. I have been traveling since I was a little girl and this will be my first trip venturing out on my own. I have been scuba diving for almost 10 years and I am so excited to see what Australia has to offer for diving/ snorkeling. I'm always down to hike, swim, go out on the town or just relax at home.

Curtis Kellett (IG: @kungfucurt)
I'm Curtis (27M), I work as a bouncer in a local bar. I'm presently finishing my university career after a transition out of the Canadian Army after 5 years. I have been training Jiu-Jitsu for nearly the last 6 years, as well as Muay Thai periodically during that time, including a training trip to Thailand. I've played guitar most of my life, and am always down to jam with other musicians.

We are seeking out unorthodox and exciting experiences and hope to have our personal perspectives expanded and to push our limits on our upcoming adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are interested in having a breadth of experiences while we're travelling, which includes staying in hostels, Airbnb's, on trains/busses/in cars, as well as in the homes of people who are both willing and eager to have us. Couchsurfing seems like an excellent opportunity to make meaningful connections and memories with locals that would have been impossible even one generation ago.

Music, Movies, and Books

Grace
Movies: Any books I liked that have been turned into movies such as the Divergent series, or the Hunger games. But Top Gun: Maverick was incredible.
Music: I like to listen to almost any kind of music but most of playlists are consist of country/western (some fav artists being Old Dominion, and Luke Combs), classic rock, 80s-00s hip hop, pop and many others.
Books: My favourite series' right now is Crescent City by Sarah Maas (i'm patiently waiting for her 3rd book to be released), and A Court if Thorns and Roses. I also like almost anything by Dan Brown or Cassandra Clare.

Curtis
Movies: Anything Christopher Nolan, Tarantino, Ari Aster.
Music: I'm open to most every kind of music, but usually I find myself listening to a lot of 80s-00s hip hop, hard rock/new metal, classic rock, some more mellow indie/ alt-rock, occasionally some country/western
Books: Mostly nonfiction, Malcolm Gladwell, Robert Greene, Jonathan Haidt, Steven Pressfield, Jordan Peterson. A lot of historical secondary source material (Read some of Karen Dawisha's work if you're interested in the modern Russian affairs)
