About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To avoid every potential host who makes people prove something to them in order to stay, that is not what this site is about.

ABOUT ME

I don't usually do well with these personal descriptions. All I can truly say is that I am open-minded, interested in creating positive change in the world, college-educated, emotionally experienced, athletic, adventurous, ambitious, laid-back, friendly, kind, empathetic, environmentally conscious, politically aware and NOT caught up in the needless consumerism that plagues the developed world.

I have relatively little traveling experience but plan to change that very soon. I have gone to most major urban cities in the US like New York (3x), Boston, DC, Miami and also road tripped across the country (Michigan to Vancouver Canada, Vancouver to San Diego, and San Diego through Las Vegas and back to Michigan).

My international experience consists of Cancun (2x), which hardly counts as a cultural experience and briefly visited Cozumel, Grand Cayman Island and Jamaica on a cruise. This doesn't count numerous trips to Toronto Canada and surrounding areas as well as Niagra Falls.

I would be more than happy to answer any and all questions you may have, don't hesitate to ask.

PHILOSOPHY

A college graduate as of May 2008, I am still trying to narrow down just who I am and what I am about. Here is what I have so far... I believe in freedom, but not the typical conception. To me, freedom is not simply doing as you please; rather, it is having the opportunity to do as you please which requires basic necessities that a majority of this world cannot obtain on a daily basis.

As a citizen of the United States and a college graduate, I feel privileged beyond the description of words. I feel that now, more than ever, I have an obligation to devote my life to making the world a better place for those who were born into less fortunate situations. I will do this in any way that I can because no person should be punished for the family, place and time they are born into.

I am currently going through some major wholesale changes in my life in order to reflect the values I want others to hold. This includes breaking away from the chains of mindless consumerism and drastically reducing my ecological footprint. It is only a matter of time before people will be forced to make these concessions, I just figure I will be proactive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I truly believe that people don't understand other cultures because they have never experienced them in any form. This website allows for that cultural exchange in the form of personal interaction. Without a doubt, this will help remove the many prejudices and preconceived notions people hold about others. It is something that I feel is necessary for the betterment of humankind as we are all living in the same boat and without cooperation, it will continue to sink.
