Pursuing an MFA in Printmaking.
I currently teach figure drawing at the U of A in Tucson, Arizona and attend the MFA program there with a concentration in printmaking. I've shown my work in cities such as Boston, Philadelphia , Bratislava, Slovakia and Bangalore, India.
I love the outdoors and trail run every week in the canyons of Arizona (when the heat is bearable, that is). In my spare time I cook and visit local restaurants and pubs with friends (in Tucson there are many...friends and pubs!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing, hosting, and going to as many meetups as possible in Europe. The CS community in Slovakia is the greatest!
I just surfed my way into Boulder, Co for three weeks, and had some amazing hosts. I also met up with local couch surfers in the area and went on some beautiful hikes.
Currently cycling and hiking in the west. I love trail running through Sabino canyon and want to start doing the same on some of the Mt. Lemmon paths.
In the city I love the museums and could easily spend the entire day walking through them and looking at art. I prefer local restaurants and pubs instead of chains and love meeting people in the area where ever I travel. The best of them are in Marfa, Texas, drinking at Padre's!
Music, Movies, and Books
Music and movies where you can feel the directors hand at play. I'm an unabashed Scorcese fan, because I feel him guiding me through the underworld of Goodfellas. I adore Werner Herzog for his madness in Fitzcarraldo, in which Fitzcarraldo tries to "civilize" the Amazon by building an opera house there. Kinski spends the entire film dragging a steam boat over a mountain. Madness. Malick's newest film, Tree of Life is one of the most beautifully shot, ever.. each frame invoked a memory from my past.
A adore the "grim reaper / grand weaper" songs of Tom Waits... he's one who can tell a great joke then follow it up with a heartbreaking ballad. I'm pretty sure Dylan has had a constant presence through my speakers since my teens. MIA is smart, edgy, sexy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've traveled through various cities displaying my work. This year, legendary artist Jim Dine curated a show in which my piece was one of 149 of 2000 entries selected for the Boston Print Biennale.
I also drove across the country, from Jacksonville Fl, to Tucson, Az in a mini cooper. That was amazing.
