ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Ruben. I am an outgoing, friendly and open minded guy, who wants to travel the world, as much as possible. I am a student of environmental engineering at the university of Stuttgart in Germany.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am relatively new to active Couchsurfing, because it was always difficult in my living situations to host people. But I enjoyed some couchsurfing meetings, where it was great meeting new people.

How awesome it is, that there is a project that makes it able to travel around the world, and actually spend time with locals, rather than staying in a hostel, or even worse, a hotel? I really LOVE this idea!

Interests

Music; I enjoy playing some tunes on my guitar or just listen to some old tracks after a hard day of work.

Photography; taking pictures of unique situations and/or people gives me a lot of pleasure. Digital or analog, I enjoy both, and every situartion deserves its own kind of style. Here is my humble flickr page ;)

Languages; after coming to Taiwan the first time, I satrted to love learning languages. Not in a confined classroom, but by meeting people and by travelling the world.

Travel; This actually connects with my love of languages, and the more I travel, the more I want to travel more.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy Rock , as much as I like to listen to Electronic Music. I play guitar since I am 15, but I had to stop it, while I was travelling Asia.

I like to read a good book, especially in Winter time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My most favorite moment, was driving through the Taiwanese Mountains on my motorcycle in my teenage years. The motor was turned off, and I was just rolling down the hill through the jungle, while there were Monkeys at the side watching me. I will never forget that moment.

Teach, Learn, Share

The parts I enjoy, when coming to a new country, is first of all learning the language of the country, as it connects much deeper to the people. Its easier to understand the culture and the habits when you know the language. Even if you just speak some chunks of the language, in my opinion, it makes a big difference.
