Czech films are a recent thing, "Daisies", "Labyrinth of Darkness," and "Alice" are a few good ones off the top of my head.
Other film, "Coffee and Cigarettes", "The Life Aquatic", "Stranger than Fiction", "Requiem for a Dream", "The Science of Sleep" "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", "Fight Club", "The Blues Brothers"...I mean this list could go on for a while...but at the same time I couldn't tell you what's in theaters currently

Books, "Girl With A Dragon Tattoo", I saw those movies first and they are gorgeous, "Time's Arrow, Time's Cycle : Myth and Metaphor in the Discovery of Geological Time", "In the Beginning : Science Faces God in the Book of Genesis", The Harry Potter series, "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", "Fight Club"...again, this could end up taking up a lot of time and space to write...

for first time surfers, read the profiles and tell the people to whom you've sent requests why you want to stay with them. who doesn't like some flattery, though, seriously? more importantly tho, you can't force the kind of bond you find with another couchsurfer. sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't, but it's more likely to be there if you pay attention to who you're sending requests to.
