About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Follow the route the US Army took from Normandy to Germany and visit as many battlefields as I can.

ABOUT ME

I am an adventurous person. I love travelling around the world and making friends. I am educated. I have a BA in history and an MA in social studies education.

PHILOSOPHY

Experiences are more important than things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is my first time participating. After I return from this trip I plan on hosting others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far. I know someone who told me about couchsurfing and it sounds like a great way to travel.

Interests

My pictures tell my story. I love to fish. The first pic is from when I wanted to go fishing. There was a lot of snow still on the ground, and when I opened my storage unit where I had my boat stored the snow cascaded down off the roof and coated me. It somehow got between my eyeglasses and my eye. I was with my friend Scott who took the picture. I love sweets, and I love classic cars. The picture here is of my current project, my '71 Buick Centurion. The pic was taken in Yellowstone Park as I was driving across the USA.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a fairly eclectic taste in all of these things. Some of my favorite movies are "The Princess Bride", "Patton", and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. My music tastes tend toward classic rock, and the books I focus on are histories, or books about Afghanistan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done: I founded and ran a small private school for carnival children. Wherever the carnival went, putting on state, county, or local fairs, I went with them and taught the children of the people who worked for the show.

Seen: bioluminescence in Tampa Bay. I was out fishing one night and there was so much bioluminescent life that I could see streaks of light under the water as fish chased each other. It was really cool.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like meeting open, friendly people. I try to learn at least a little something from everyone.
