My name is Cynthia and I'm a 24 (oh God...) year-old student from Mexico. I moved to the UK last year to do a Masters degree in Medieval Studies. I'm currently in the (lengthy) process of writing my dissertation on Spanish knights and I'm also a freelance writer for a lifestyle blog.

Last year, I took a month-long solo trip through Europe which really awakened the travel bug in me. It was the first time I'd done something of the like and I don't know if I found myself, but I did learn that I'm much more outgoing and not as shy as I thought I was!

What I love about travel is experiencing new cultures and checking out the museums. I'm an art historian (with a degree and everything!) and for me there's nothing like seeing that painting, sculpture or building I only ever knew through PowerPoint presentations, live and in person.

As someone who sees every travel opportunity as "the last time I'll ever be in [x] city", I want to maximise my time and really get to know the places I go to, which for me means getting to know the people who call those places home and what to them makes their city stand out.

I also love to learn from other travellers who feel the same passion but, my current living arrangements (student accommodation), don't really allow me to host anyone. I do hope that this changes once life is a little more stable!

During last year's BookTube-A-Thon (a week-long reading marathon on YouTube), I managed to finish 8 books, the longest one being The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien.
