About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I think our mission is to visit every corner of the world. For me, that includes making friends of the world's entire population.

ABOUT ME

My husband and I are very well-traveled with a thirst for learning. We both have a droll sense of humor and a Joie de Vivre. My husband was a Marine for 20 years and has been to over 40 countries. I was the Illinois Field Manager for Youth For Understanding International Exchange and hosted over a dozen exchange students. Most of my travel stemmed from this experience. My husband was a petroleum geologist before becoming general manager of Parsnipity Cafe where I am the chef owner. We have four grown children and three grandchildren. We share our home with our cats Miyako and Yamiko and our beagle Kirby.

PHILOSOPHY

"The universe is my country and the human family my tribe." Kahlil Gibran

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We have hosted several times and will continue to do so. We've only had wonderful experiences. I have stayed with a host twice in Kansas City, once in Missouir and with a host in Dublin.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've had great experiences both hosting and surfing. Many of the requests we've had to refuse came without any prior notice. I would seldom be able to host if I get the request only the day of or the day before.

Interests

We spend our time cooking for our friends, reading, traveling and talking endlessly to each other. My husband participates in Highland games.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once walked on hot coals in Japan, rode Oprah's limo to her show, walked on the red carpet for the premiere of "No Reservations" in NYC and testified in front of the FCC. My husband has so many exciting stories that it takes a lifetime to hear them all.
