About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To educate others alongside my education...to contribute and share...

ABOUT ME

I am becoming a graduate in May 2010! I don't know if I am going to go directly into teaching or if I am going to pursue my Master's...in something, haha. I have an interest in Education/Public Administration/Philosophy & Ethics. Who know, maybe I'll pursue all three!

I am an all around person...what does that mean? I have interests in almost everything! Film, music, politics, philosophy, books, writing, guns & hunting (proper/legal hunting & arms usage), trucks & cars, cooking/grilling/some baking, a little bit of drinking and of course, TRAVELING!

I love geography and knowing how what a city thrives on: businesses, industries...pretty much the economic productivity of a region which is greatly influenced with geography and partial history.

I am someone who wants to know the who, what and how things work or why they yield a certain result.

I enjoy sports and entertainment, although I am not an expert in either. This rings true for my interests mentioned above, hence an interest in almost everything.

I have a dark/cynical side to things in life, but I honestly do play devil's advocate for the right reasons. This is simply help me in making my decisions. But please don't be scared of me, haha. I am a positive person in the end.

If you have ANY questions/comments, please do ask! I enjoy socializing and meeting people! Oh, I may not be the specialist in grammar but am committed to using the most proper usage of written communication. So in other words, I don't like using "LOL."

PHILOSOPHY

With my cynical/dark side, I use the negative energy or whatever else is going on, if you will, to motivate myself with one question: What am I going to do about it? Recently I have been having some car trouble for the first time in five years of owning a Nissan Altima, so I have decided to find a part time job to do something about my problem. If not, I try something else like perhaps trading in the car in the future for a newer vehicle.

Another way I use negativity for motivation was when I was playing football in high school. As a linemen (the big boys), if I was getting beat to my blocks, then I adjust to it somehow. I owe this type of thinking to my high school track coach (haha, yea I know) who inspired me with this kind of philosophy.

Again, questions/perspectives/comments, let me know-I am not perfect!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any experiences with CouchSurfing yet, but have been approached in how I can assist. Since I attend school away from my hometown of El Paso, Texas, I can show you around both areas. I cannot fully HOST someone due to me not having a place solo/by myself (roommates in Alpine & family in El Paso).

Music, Movies, and Books

Films:
The Andromeda Strain; American Beauty; Crash; LOTR Trilogy; V for Vendetta; Terminator 2; Tombstone; many other powerful films...
Books:
Angels and Demons; Fight Club; Survivor; The Great Gatsby; A Farewell to Arms; I am working on others on my list...
Music:

One band has been a great influence in my thinking and everyday daydreaming: THE DOORS! Jim Morrison...I cannot begin to explain the thinking that his lyrics have put me through. I am a rock fan. I don't really like death/black metal. But I do like fast beat songs that I can listen to and sing along with the lyrics. Such of these is Metallica, 10 years, Chevelle and others. I also like OLD hip-hop; the kind that sends the message of doing something with life/making something of yourself.

In addition to books, I will be soon reading Jim Morrison's biography NO ONE HERE GETS OUT ALIVE. I need to finish a few in progress to get to it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been part of numerous leadership activities in my college career. Here's a funny fact: I sometimes devoted more time to organizations and events than my own studies. Although I only have a 3.007/4.0 GPA, I do KNOW and remember much of what I have learned. Just because there are 4.0's out there doesn't mean that they can tell you everything they 'learned' in those courses that were aced.

I have seen the diversity in geography of Texas, haha. I have been through about 85% of the state ever since visiting East Texas. I just about need the high panhandle (everything above Lubbock, Texas [Google Maps time!]).

And perhaps one of my highest points in life has been meeting with the Board of Regents of the Texas State University System which is just under the authority of the Governor who appoints them. *I felt so important* haha
