About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is short, live, love, listen.

ABOUT ME

I am a saxophone player who travels a lot. I have been an amateur couch surfer most of my life, usually crashing on friends couches, or people's I've met at shows I've played. I like meeting interesting people and most of all checking out places. When I come to a new town, I usually try to find some of the places the locals go (like non-chain restaurants, music venues, etc.) to really get a feel for the place.

PHILOSOPHY

I overbook myself constantly because I can never turn down an opportunity to do anything. I try not to waste a single minute of life and enjoy it with good people, beautiful places, art, and food. I'm usually broke but I can never turn down a concert I want to see, and I always find a way to get the money somehow.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing sights I've seen is the errupting Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica. Something about seeing rock formed from liquid in front me of changed the way I thought about the world growing up.

I've also been really lucky to play with some of my musical idols, so I guess thats two things.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know some things about music. I'm always happy to talk about it, either from a theoretical, esthetic, or any other perspective. I especially like talking about it with people who are completely novice to it, because I feel like sometimes I'm in too deep in the institutional academic process and its refreshing to try to step outside that. In the past year or so I've gotten really into appalachian folk music and taken up the banjo, so I'm always down to share some tunes.

I like to learn about everything.
