ABOUT ME

So I finally did it! I quit my job and I'm about to leave for a 5.5 month long trip to SE Asia. I just had one of those years where I felt in a bit of a slump and then hit a cold Canadian winter and I had to do something. So I booked some flights to Singapore, and 2 months later I'm off. First time to the region and hoping to visit Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and Cambodia!

I'm 26, from Alberta, Canada and travelling solo. This is the first time I've done a trip this long- done other solo 10 day trips in Canada and US, but first time to Asia! First time escaping an Edmonton winter- can you tell I'm excited to get out of the cold!!

It's a bit hard to describe myself because I'm trying to figure that out all the time, but I'm just an easy going, pretty laid back chick. When I travel, I like to live pretty care free, not a lot of planning or structure. I just like to have fun and see where each day takes me. I'm going on this trip to explore and find new ways of living, so I want to push myself and step outside my world of normal on a regular basis. I like adventure, I like exploring- I love always seeing new things.

I'm definitely a backpacker on a budget! I prefer food stalls over restaurants, dorms over privates and walking around checking out the sites instead of paying to go in museums. There are always amazing exceptions when tours and sites are worth every penny, but I like to save money. I want to travel as long as possible and I'm totally willing to change the way I live to accommodate.

I just want to have fun and learn and experience as much as I can about other people, their cultures and ways of life.

Very little so far- just the little bits on friends couches after too late of nights. Soon to change!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Salina Turda in Transylvania, Romania- A large, out of commission salt mine has been turned into a tourist site. You are able to go 17 stories underground, and then there is a large carnival. Seriously- a merry go round, bowling, a stage, all kinds of weird activities for families to do. And if you lick the walls, it really is salt. Only in Romania! Totally worth it!
