PHILOSOPHY

This bit. Blummin eck' I travelled for year. 364 days around the world. I surreally found myself caught up in the Mumbai terror attacks. I witnessed the Bangkok riots and unrest in Bolivia. I felt Latin America's raw passion. I seen generousity and beauty in Laos and landscapes unrivalled in New Zealand. I crossed paths with people who spoke 6 languages fluently and were modest with each word. I split my chin and was hospitalised on three occasions. I travelled with kind people from every corner of the planet and in professions I did not know of. On my return, my sister asked me what I learned whilst I was away. I said "I learned that I know nothing" It's time to start learning. Its time to live.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In all honesty this site for me offers various strands of learning. Surfing a couch can be remarkable insight into the inner runnings of local household meeting hospitable and warm characters along the way. It can get you out of a sticky situation too! In Rio, Brasil just chilling out with Vera on Copocabana beach was wicked. We spent a few days just chilling and I soon understood the Brasilian way. Glorita opened her house in Santiago de Chile. I was shattered after travelling for 5 months and her family were beautiful. Simply meeting locals for drinks or sharing a day is great way to know what a city is all about. I have always bumped into couchsurfers all over the world. It's a great icebreaker "You're a couchsurfer! Where have you been? Did you CS there? How did you find it?" :) Lastly, CS allows you to seperate yourself from being a voyeristic tourist and provides a branch into the society you are visiting. If just only for a short time, I have felt more in tune with the heartbeat of a country when chilling with a likeminded local. Nothing beats it. Lonely Planets, maps, getting lost with gringos is fun. But it does not provide the edge in experience that CS does. Viva CS!

Ive always wanted to master Tango, Salsa and Break Dancing (yeah Break Dancing!)Languages - Learn Spanish and more. I love all languages full stop!
