Music - jazz, progressive rock, psychedelic rock, acid rock, space rock, art rock, punk and post-punk... most about anything from 1966 through to 1979. I'm also into lo-fi/outsider house and Detroit/Berlin techno when it's time for dancing.

Movies - anything by Wes Anderson, Jean Luc Godard, Federico Fellini, Pasolini, Mary Harron, Jacques Rivette and Terrence Malick.

Books - too many to list, but some of my favourite novelists and poets include Wallace Stevens, Ed Dorn, John Updike, Charles Olson, T. S. Eliot, Prynne, Peter Riley, Basil Bunting, William Blake, John Clare, Hart Crane, Bret Easton Ellis, Teju Cole, William S. Burroughs, Henry Vaughan, Thomas Traherne, Robert Herrick, Richard Lovelace, George Herbert and James Joyce.

I have loved and studied literature for many years, and nothing makes me happier than hearing personal perspectives on books, or even on art and culture more widely. I believe that a conversation should always be exploratory and experimental, an open and democratic space in which all parties can formulate fresh opinions and test them out. I also have a pretty comprehensive knowledge of music and I love listening to new albums, as well as introducing people to some of my favourites. If you've got a bass guitar or keyboard in your home that's gathering dust (perhaps you've never found the time to set aside for learning, or you don't know where to begin) then I am more than happy to offer up some of what I know- I've been playing since I was a kid.
