About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To depart from Japan and go to America the long way around.

ABOUT ME

I like harmony, getting along with people, conflict resolution, good vibes, and a general sense of ease for myself and my surroundings, including the people around me. For that reason I'm confident that just about anybody would be comfortable with hosting me or surfing at my place. I teach English to Japanese people of all ages, host a local radio program(which I also podcast online), organize/hold local events/music parties, DJ, VJ, compose-write-record-perform original music both on my own and in a band and I enjoy life.

PHILOSOPHY

The universe is a hologram, which is a short way to say that everything is intimately connected on multiple levels, synchronicities occur, miracles and mystical experiences are more common than we admit, the microcosm is the macrocosm, and all life, including people, while very different on the surface, are ultimately the same universal self deep down, we are one and oneness is life, so I endeavor to go with the flow in good times and bad, and always be open to and aware of the people, places, and circumstances around me, so that we can get along nicely and peacefully resolve any conflicts we face.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will participate by traveling as much as I can, surfing across the continents and whenever I have a place to offer surfers I will be waiting with open doors.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've slept in so many places, from a Thai bungalow to a 5-star hotel to a concrete stairwell in a parking garage, not to mention the countless couches I have slept on. My first ever couch surfing experience was 11 years ago, as a host to a Japanese nomadic photographer, who stayed with me and my roommates for weeks, and who inspired me to make my first trip abroad, to wonderful Japan, where I still live today. My nephew recently "couchsurfed" with me for 3 1/2 weeks and it was a great experience for both of us!

Interests

MUSIC(singing, playing instruments, DJing, radio show hosting, and of course, listening), reading books mostly non-fiction, African drumming (djembe, kpalogo etc) without a doubt drumming is the instrument I excel at most, cooking, hot springs, all forms of exercise and staying active and fit, teaching/encouraging/nurturing/playing with children (my job teaching English has really brought this ability to my attention, and I hope to always be a positive influence for the younger generation)travelling and learning about/experiencing new cultures, foods, languages and adventures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only 18 months old, I charged through a window screen and fell from the second floor window and survived! (Lucky to be alive, every day and all it holds is precious to me)

I(we) created life, my beautiful son, whom I love 4EVR!

My friend and I(as a hip-hop duo) were finalists in a national music competition in Japan.

I wrote a song that won an award for "Best Hemp Song" at the 2007 Global Marijuana Music Awards. My voice was heard around the world, the merit of my song was recognized, and it amazes and humbles me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can speak Japanese fluently, I can play percussion like a pro, I can play pretty good rhythm guitar and I'd be glad to teach whatever I can to anyone that wants to learn.

I want to learn something every day, especially skills that help make me more self sufficient, more DIY, more able to take care of myself, while minimizing negative impacts on the environment.

Mi casa es su casa, I generally share everything I have, from food to resources to something you need to borrow, I know I'll take nothing with me when I die so I try not to covet anything, or cling to possessions, that's why I'm generally willing to share whatever I have, as it has been shared with me.
