About Me

There is something that I've learned while scratching my head over writing 'About Me' sections in profiles like this: I will never write an autobiography.

I'm here to see the world, try all the things, and forge new friendships as I go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Hosting a stranger is a remarkable extension of generosity and kindness, by which I am truly humbled. A person who will do that is a person I want to meet. It's the reason that I couchsurf.

Interests

My life is wrapped up in learning, and I love that. Some of it happens in the classroom, and a lot of it happens on my own. I take the same approach to traveling, opting to seize the opportunity to learn about new places and different people and cultures rather than sightsee. I'd prefer to explore every narrow alley in Venice or wander the arrondissements in Paris for days than to snap selfies in front of popular landmarks.

...Ok, I take some selfies too. But they'd revoke my Millennial membership if I didn't.

I love music more than anything else, and eating (and cooking) good food takes a close second. I also love trying things that I've never tried before, which is especially true if it can be applied to music or food.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music : Jazz from Ellington to Coltrane; Alt-J, The xx; Phantogram, Matt & Kim; and unusual dance-y stuff like Die Antwoord, The Glitch Mob, Pretty Lights, and Major Lazer.

Books: A Song of Ice & Fire, The Sociopath Next Door, The Field, Ender's Game, Brave New World, Catch-22, et al.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I conquered my fear of dancing in a field with thousands of people until sunrise.
