About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experience a part of Russia that most people don't see.

....
to perfect our Spanish whilst living the Spain, and to have amazing experiences and friends along the way

ABOUT ME

The information below is a little old, but all true.

At the moment I am travelling around Russia with an old friend of mine, Tom, who lives in Moscow

......
Ingrid and I have just arrived in Europe to spend a half a year living in Granada, Spain. We're working our way down there from Germany at the moment.Previously, we spent 1 year travelling around Central America , living in Mexico and Nicaragua and Spain, learning spanish and doing odd bits of volunteer work mixed in with surfing and partying. We were called the travelling circus for a while when we had a few friends with us in central america, travelling with a couple of guitars, a didgeridoo, surfboards... it was ridiculous, but fun! we even had a few gigs around mexico and guatemala. Unfortunately the circus disbanded, but we somehow still have a guitar, surfboard and didgeridoo with us. It isn't very practical, but we have fun...I (Matt) like to go surfing for all kinds of reasons - it gets me out into nature, the search for a great wave can take you to many interesting places, and it's an adrenalin rush. I like to read lots of books, because I think it is one of the best ways to learn about different peoples perspectives and life experiences. I like being challenged about my views on life, and like doing the same to other people

PHILOSOPHY

'Try anything twice',
'never stop learning'... we're working on the rest

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've hosted a couple of times (and many times informally!) and surfed a few couches in Spain and Andorra.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've couched surf a few times in Europe, one of those landed us a job and place to stay in Barcelona for 3 months, which was an unexpected bonus.
I have hosted a couple of couchsurfers, and it was awesome. I like couchsurfers who are happy to join in with whatever I have going on, or happy to do their own thing.
I absolutely love the whole idea of couchsurfing, and I'm really interested to meet new people with different ways of seeing the world through it.

Interests

Doing interesting things with interesting people... surfing and reading good books, playing music and learning to be better at doing it, speaking spanish

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I played didgeridoo with a Mexican ukelele player at Bar Revolucion in San Cristobal the first night I was in the city, with all my friends watching. It was something I'd never dreamed of doing, yet always wanted to do, it was awesome (well.. for me at least)
