Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Damascus(天翼)currently in my last semester at university, studying remotely while working on the side. I’m a curious and adventurous soul who thrives on exploring the nitty-gritty of every culture I encounter. So far, I’ve visited 30 countries, and my goal is to experience every corner of the globe—not just as a tourist but as someone who immerses deeply in the people, traditions, and stories that define a place.
I’m not interested in the typical travel itinerary. Instead, I love wandering into local spots, meeting new friends, and letting spontaneity guide my day. Whether it’s exploring the streets of Medellín with locals, sharing mangoes with friends in Taiwan, or navigating markets in Tunisia, I seek connections that make every place feel like home.
When I’m not traveling, you’ll find me experimenting with new recipes, playing jazz saxophone, or working on tech projects that combine innovation with real-world impact.
I’d love to make connections with people who share that same passion for curiosity and adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hostels and hotels only take you so far—they’re great for convenience, but they don’t offer the deep connections I crave when traveling. I want to go beyond surface-level interactions and truly immerse myself in the heart of a place. Couchsurfing offers something unique: the chance to meet people who can show you their world, not just the version in guidebooks.
I admire those YouTubers who have “fixers” in every country—locals who guide them to hidden gems and share their lives. That’s the kind of experience I’m after.

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything is fair game. I like jazz, reggaeton, dembow, salsa, banda, corridos, pop, rap, drill. If it makes me move, I’ll like it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last month, I completed the SAS EuroBonus Millionaire Challenge, a promotion that required flying 15 different SkyTeam airlines within a few months to earn a million bonus points. It was a logistical puzzle and a wild adventure. I juggled dozens of flights across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, navigating fifth freedom routes and overnight layovers to make it happen.
For most, it might seem crazy—spending days in transit just to chase points—but for me, it was an incredible experience. Not only did I earn points to fund future trips (the equivalent of 10 round-trip business class flights to Europe!), but I also gained a deeper appreciation for aviation, route planning, and the camaraderie of travelers chasing similar goals.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can show you how to cook dishes inspired by the 30 countries I’ve visited, teach you how to hack your next flight with travel points, or share the basics of playing jazz saxophone.
Learn: I’m eager to learn about your culture, language, and favorite local spots. Show me how to cook your family’s signature dish or teach me something I’ve never tried before.
Share: Let’s exchange stories over a meal, explore your city, or plan a spontaneous adventure. I bring curiosity, a sense of humor, and an open mind to every encounter.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cooking: Let’s make something amazing together—whether it’s a Latin American dish, Middle Eastern comfort food, or something creative from scratch.
Music: If you have instruments, I’d love to jam with you. Otherwise, I can introduce you to jazz or play you a tune on the saxophone.
Travel Tips: Need advice on planning your next trip? I can share tips on redeeming travel points, planning multi-leg itineraries, or navigating unfamiliar places.
Cultural Exchange: Let’s talk about life, culture, and travel—I love learning from others and sharing my own experiences.
