To finish my PhD!

ABOUT ME

Basically, I work too hard. But I have tons of interests that I currently don't get much time to do at present (classic cars, watch birds, play music, read books, sail yachts). What keeps me busy is the drive of trying to establish an academic career in Zoology, which includes plenty of field work, experiments, data analysis, and writing.

PHILOSOPHY

Not sure about this one, but I'd say 'make the most of today'.

Music, Movies, and Books

(nearly) All genres of music, read lots of books and watch the odd movie. Somewhat eclectic taste.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. I conducted aerial surveys (from a small cessna) of breeding waterbirds in the central Australian floods of 2009. This involved flying over endless kilometres of flooded deserts counting hundreds of thousands of breeding birds. Sublime scenery!

2. Galapagos Islands. They are simply beyond this world.

3. Walk of the Gods (Amalfi coast, Italy). In 45 degrees with an injured toe - climbed thousands of steps and walked 18 kilometres to finally descend upon stunning Positano for a swim in the warm mediterranean and some gelatti.
