Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet people from other countries. To meet people from my country who are interested in other countries. To meet people who love learning languages. To meet people who understand what it's like to live an untraditional lifestyle. To meet people who just want to get out and go see the world.

Languages, Minimalism, Blogging, Tennis, Running, Philosophy, Vegetarianism - I'm really into learning Portuguese and improving my French right now.
Music, Movies, and Books
I mainly read those self-help, motivational like How to Change the World, A Twentysomething's Guide to Delaying the Real World, The Art of Non-conformity, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Crawled through caves in Ecuador all the way to a waterfall...definitely a WOW moment, especially after realizing you only have to pay $1.50 to get into the park - compared to the $1.50 I just spent on a coffee to sit in a coffee shop and write all this out.
Most of these moments are captured on my YouTube channel if you want to see more (http://www.youtube.com/user/damonandjo).
Teach, Learn, Share
For those studying French:
The French word for "today" is "aujourd'hui." The old French word for "today" was "hui," but the French felt it wasn't a very strong sound, so to make everyone happier, they added "au jour de" (the day of) to "hui" (today) and now you have a weird looking word with a random apostrophe.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Crazy stories of a crazy life in NYC. A knowledge of NYC's cool spots. Studying abroad four times. Nine years of vegetarianism. Language knowledge (French, Spanish, Portuguese). A database of information about the tv show FRIENDS. EuRail experience...twice. How to start a travel blog. How to start a YouTube channel.
