Hello! I'm Danny, a journalist-in-training.

One day at work, I thought to myself, "what the heck am I doing with my life?!"
This thought quickly prompted a resignation from my post as a skytrain projects manager.
I've worked in various industries throughout the course of my life including research, aerospace, oil'n'gas, logistics, mining, and transportation.
Now, I'm on the road pursuing personal projects and spending time where it really matters.

I love to learn about the people and world around me.
I enjoy listening to peoples' stories and diving deep into conversations of various topics.
Currently, I'm particularly interested in learning about diaspora and how deep rooted generations of family's can get intertwined within a foreign country, seamlessly creating a whole new culture, creating something that's never been of existence until now.

People would describe me as a soft-spoken and tidy individual.
I am also a (self-proclaimed) great line cook and general handyman for the most miscellaneous tasks you could think of. Need someone to get a job done? Call me!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Radiohead, jazz (Oscar Peterson is my current favourite), classical, pop... How can you dislike any form of great music?
Movie: Martin Scorsese films.
Book: I don't have one favourite book, but I love to read Japanese & German literature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I quit my well-paying corporate job in October 2025.
Now I'm on a new journey to find a different path!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach you how to become a master of Excel.
On a less corporate note, I've acquired a specific set of niche skills in my life and perhaps one of them will come in handy one day.
I could teach you how to identify bears and how to deal with each of them in a confrontation!

Learn: I'm currently learning to play a famous jazz piano song... Hopefully practice makes perfect, right?

Share: When I'm back home, one of my favourite things to do is sharing food with family and friends. Whether it's use cooking, or checking out a new restaurant. A great portion of love & laughter in my life revolves around food.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a (self-proclaimed) great linecook in the kitchen.
I'm also a (self-proclaimed) marvelous janitor with great attention to detail.
Wishing this wasn't the case, I'm not a great story teller, but I still love to share about my life stories.
More than anything, I'm a great listener and friendly-individual who loves learning about people and the world!
