Hey everyone! I'm Dan, a 30 year old male from Maine. I grew up in a small town in central Maine. I spent most of my time growing up fishing, hiking, biking, snowboarding, reading and spending a lot of time with my friends playing video games. I'm a huge geek and love to play board games and card games.
I work in two restaurants in Portland Maine. One is fine dining and the other is a fast pace taco joint. I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. I told myself when I turned 30 that this would be the year that I make a do something crazy for myself. About a month ago I decided to quit both my jobs and take the summer off for vacation and travel across the United States to visit some close friends and explore my home country. I'm looking forward to this adventure and hope to meet some amazing people along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a bunch of friends around the U.S. that I will be visiting on my trip but some big states I do not have any connections in. I was hoping to find some people along the way that would be kind enough to host my stay or even let me set up camp in their back yard. Mainly the states of Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and even northern California. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Interests

I love to do out door activities during the summer, but tend to stay indoors with my video games in the winter. I love food and wine pairing. I could eat out three times a day if I could afford it. I enjoy trying new food and drinks. I spend a lot of time at the beach during the summer months. Board games include Settlers of Catan, Magic The Gathering, Agricola, Quelf, Cranium, Cribbage. I love freshwater fishing including fly fishing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in high school I white water rafted the Kennebec River twice. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life and I hope to add more on this trip.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences in my road trip would be fun to share and learn about other's experiences as well. My out going personality is a strong personality trait of mine. I love to cook and am very clean. I would be happy to supply and cook a meal for my hosts in exchange for a yard to camp in and maybe a hot shower.
