About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Grow and develop as a person and professional.
ABOUT ME
I am a Swedish New Zealander who recently moved to Sheffield, UK, to study for a PhD after having lived in Suzhou, China for many years. In my free time, I enjoy doing sports and staying active, meeting friends for coffee or beer, and reading and discussing various books, including fiction and non-fiction. Having lived in Sweden, the UK and China, I am a mix of different cultures and like to learn languages and find out more about other cultures and customs.
In general, I am a friendly and easy-going guy and hope to be a good host to any visiting CouchSurfers when i can. In the meantime i am happy to meet locals and travellers in and around Sheffield.
Please read through my profile before sending requests.
PHILOSOPHY
Improve yourself a little every day and the gains will be worth it
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I take part in CouchSurfing meetings on a regular basis.
Surfing and traveling when I'm free or have a decent place to stay.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosted loads of great surfers in Sweden, England and China. Also surfed some couches and made great new friends in China, Thailand, and all over the world.
Interests
Reading a range of books, including biographies (Elon Musk), short stories (The Gift of the Magi), and historical novels (e.g. Ravenspur), as well as more or less academic literature on language, education, and technology in higher education (British, American).
I also stay active like to go running, hiking, walking or swimming in nature.
Travelling when I get the chance.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like thoughtful and interesting movies such as Cloud Atlas, the Butterfly Effect, and The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, but I haven't watched much in recent years. Very much open to suggestions here.
I listen to a little bit of everything when it comes to music, but especially folk (Bob Dylan), live jazz music, and classical music. All the same, I am open to most kinds of music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Met wild monkeys face to face at Monkey Mountain in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Saw the burst of a geyser in Rotorua, New Zealand, and travelled around Tunisia without speaking either French or Arabic.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach you Swedish, English and maybe (basic) Chinese.
If you are interested, I could probably teach you some teaching techniques I use as well.
I enjoy learning new languages and especially trying foods and drinks from different countries and regions.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A couch when I am available.
Travel stories and photos from around the world.
Some languages and history I picked up from various different places.
