About Me

I am just an ordinary guy who has stumbled upon a love for the outdoors and for travel. I currently work seasonally in Antarctica and North Idaho fighting forest fires.

I enjoy going to remote places and seeing what there is to see. I also enjoy meeting people and learning about culture and customs of different countries.

I can sleep anywhere have no allergies and enjoy the company of most anyone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because it was suggested to me by a few friends and also some random people that were couch surfers and took me in. I really enjoyed the experiences and would like to continue meeting good people.

Unfortunately at the moment I am rarely living one place for more than six months and its usually in government housing for work where I can't host anyone. I guess the next best thing is I pick up hitch hikers when I can as rides are as important as shelter.

I have had a couple unofficial surfing experiences. One was from a friend's brother in law in Turku Finland, the other was an American Peace Corps. volunteer in Bayram Curi, Albania. In Finland, Antii Koskimaa showed me all around Turku and was a very nice host, despite that we had not known eachother for too long.

In Albania, I randomly met Eric and he offered to host myself as well as an American and two Czech friends of mine in his studio apartment. I think he was very glad to speak English with somebody and he taught us how to get around in Albania and to understand some of their customs there.

Interests

I love hiking, cross country skiing, photography, geography, history, and playing guitar. I especially love going to different or remote random places in the states and elsewhere.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical interests include rock, jazz, blues, blue grass, as well as classical music. I have been playing electric guitar for over ten years and am willing to jam with anyone who is interested.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked 2668 miles / 4294 Kilometers from Mexico to Canada on the Pacific Crest Trail in 2013 over the course of five months

Teach, Learn, Share

I have very good skills in camping, hiking, and off trail navigation. I am more than willing to share information on countries I have travelled to and also give employment advice to anyone who is interested in working down in Antarctica

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have worked in Antarctica for the past four years as a fueler and helicopter technician and have traveled extensively in remote areas. If a host wants to hear some interesting stories, I have a few. I am also a good worker in the outdoors and have experience with hand and power tools and chainsaws, so if you need some random ditches dug or hazard trees removed, I can take care of them.
