About Me

CURRENT MISSION

At the moment I've just finished working in Spain making very expensive wine for a very famous winery for very rich people. I'm now travelling all around to places that are not New Zealand and Australia. I'm a laid back guy, I like music, wine, sunshine

ABOUT ME

I'm originally from a small city in NZ called Gisborne, home to good surf, nice wine and not much else. I've been to Uni in the South of NZ studying wine science and have basically been working around NZ and Australia for the last couple of years in the wine industry.

I've finally managed to haul my arse to europe and am currently travelling around having finished working in a small winery in central Spain. I'm currently in Morocco enjoying the sun and trying underground missions to liberate the country's booze (it's kinda illegal here and real hard to find).

Other than work and travel I also play a range of instruments, mostly the bass. I've been in a band of some sort pretty much since i was 15 up until now (travelling makes it a bit tricky). I like all sorts of music, reggae is probably my current favourite but anything punk will do as will anything that makes me think.

PHILOSOPHY

hmmm... I don't have any carved out philosophy, I tend to try not to think about those things too much, basically I'm trying to have a good time wherever I go, I'm not a reglious person (i guess I'm agnostic/atheist) but I like the jist of Buddists, leading a good balanced life and try to make more people happy rather than pissed off...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am more than happy to offer my couch once I have one available! My house in Melbourne was almost a halfway house for kiwi's moving to Australia, I love having interesting people around me and I feel any couch unslept on is a waste of space!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Personally I have had loads of unofficial couch surfing experiences around NZ and Australia. My work sees me travelling quite a lot as I follow the wine seasons around and sometimes it can be hard to setup a full time base so whenever I prefer to be social and share mates couches.

Interests

I like any music that is live and pumping! Any food that is not meat and 2 vege (unless it's good meat and 2 vege), travelling, learning languages, eating cheese straight from the block with a baguette in hand, wine from the bottle in a busy summer's park with mates and a shitty stereo or a guitar, etc.

Sport wise I love Snowboarding and like skating and surfing. I've been trying for a while to find a way to tie my winemaking with Snowboarding but I always then to get distracted doing other things when I should be trying to get a job up a mountain somewhere.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies-
I like anything that's not overly cheese and glossed over, like most things in life I love watching something when it is obvious work/emotion/something different has gone into it

Music-
reggae/rock/dub/punk rock
Sublime, Rancid, RHCP, Pete tosh, Katchafire, Shapeshifter, Leftover Crack, Hot chip, Dire Straights, Breaks Co-op, etc.

Books-
I'm a slow reader and it frustrates the hell out of me! but when I get into a book I tend to get into it big time good books ive read... Shantaram, marching powder, the bone people, life of Pi, Mao's last dancer, three swans.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing.... I once won a colouring in competition when I was a kid, pretty amazing considering I can't draw to save myself!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know quite a bit about wine, especially the wine production side of the industry but am no means a master which is why I work the way I do. I've got plenty of other skills but in general I would class myself as a jack of all trades master of non sort of guy. I love learning anything that is there to be learnt, Currently learning Spanish is my aim
