About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring the world with the help of couches!

ABOUT ME

I'm from Michigan in the United States but currently live in Hangzhou, China teaching English. I've been a few different places of the years and hope to cover plenty more ground in the coming years. I really like meeting new people and finding adventures to share, whether it's cooking, video games, hiking, going out, playing basketball, traveling, whatever.

My outlook on life is very positive, and I pretty much always love where I am and where I'm going (wherever that may be). I like surrounding myself with people who are also optimistic about what the world has to offer.

I am definitely in Hangzhou, despite what my "last login" might say.

PHILOSOPHY

Everyone should strive to reach their full potential. As a teacher that's something that I try to push fully and something I try to live by. Whatever that potential may be, go for it.

Also: Be excellent to each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been to a few meet-ups here in China and when I lived in Charlotte, North Carolina. I like going to meet-ups, potlucks, bar nights, sports, and whatever else people are up to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just a few meet-ups in Charlotte and China, and made a few friends here and there. Also met a language exchange partner to learn Chinese and speak English.

Interests

Books, movies, being outside, psychology, music, philosophy, rugby, football, basketball, travel, cooking, and all the normal things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, 1984, anything by Kurt Vonnegut.

I'm pretty easy to impress when it comes to movies, because I like liking things. But mostly anything that makes me think or feel things. Pretty generic, right?

Music is a big part of my life, and I like to have it around me all the time. I'm not so much good at playing music or know anything about it technically, I just really enjoy being around music and DEFINITELY seeing it live.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the sun rise in the Swiss Alps and the sun set from the Eiffel Tower (not in the same day) and held a newborn baby (not mine).

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not really sure I can state what I can teach. I think that comes out more during conversation and spending time with people.

I'd like to learn more about cooking and any type of new experiences. Everyone has their little thing that's theirs, and I want to know more. My thing is rugby.
