About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm sort of like a frat boy in a hippie's body/spiritual consciousness. Does that make sense?
To clarify, I'm a pretty funny guy on the outside, but when the smoke clears.... I'm pretty serious.
I love being outside in general, and long-distance hiking in particular. I used to do a lot of rock climbing, but not so much anymore. I also love drinking coffee, booze, and sparkling water (not all at once though).
I am just about to get married to my fantastic partner of many years, Vicky.
The main thing that defines me right now is my work as a reporter. I spend a lot of time writing and researching stories, and if you stay over, you will likely see me doing this as I work from home. Mostly from the outside it just looks like me being on the computer and phone a lot. I am trying to have a better work-life balance.
Despite my relatively bland exterior (my hero is Mark from Peep Show, fyi), I have done a few things and been a few places most people wouldn't expect.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've hitched a lot and slept in some unlikely spots including on top of a gas station in mexico, in Camp 4 (if you know, you know), pirate-style in the UW dorms, and in a hobo camp by the Seattle/Interbay yard.I also CS'ed for a whole week up in bellingham.
In general it just seems like a neat way to meet people, which as my fiance and I are not in school anymore is harder to do these days. Also, we both love our region and city very much, and love to share it with travelers discovering it for the first time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
25 years and 56 days ago (as of this writing), the lights came on. It's all been pretty damn amazing since.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a basic understanding of law, microeconomic theory, and the anthropological roots of the market society and industrial capitalism. I also know how to:*maintain a trail, *swap an engine out of a car*Run a chainsaw (real good)*tie some useful knots and build life-worthy belay stations*do a grand ron de jambe en l'aire,*play crummy guitar,*sound athoritativeI'd love to learn how to work on diesel engines, be a better rock climber, get a job at a magazine, or skydive.I'm happy to share my sweat on your project!
