About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To read more than humanly possible while still finding time to enjoy Cambridge and Boston.
ABOUT ME
We have been married since August. We met in the Bay Area, California, at a war protest. We each did a year of volunteer work, which included living in intentional community with other volunteers and focusing on living simply and sustainably. We hope to work for non-profits in the future. This Fall, we each began graduate programs in Boston, Massachusetts. We are fairly quiet people, but enjoy great conversation with great people.
PHILOSOPHY
"If I choose not to become attached to nouns - a person, place or thing - then when I refuse an intimate's love or hoard my spirit, when a known landscape is bought, sold, and developed, chained or grazed to a stubble, or a hawk is shot and hung by its feet on a barbed wire fence, my heart cannot be broken because I never risked giving it away. But what kind of impoverishment is this to withhold emotion, to restrain our passionate nature in the face of a generous life just to appease our fears? A man or woman whose mind reins in the heart when the body sings desperately for connection can only expect more isolation and greater ecological disease. Our lack of intimacy with each other is in direct proportion to our lack of intimacy with the land. We have taken our love inside and abandoned the wild." ~ Terry Tempest Williams

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The extent of our couch surfing before CS.org is with people who have completed the same volunteer program each of us participated in (so current or former volunteers from other cities traveling and needing a place to stay). This past summer, we couch surfed in Oslo, Stockholm and Freiburg and had really great experiences in each city.
Interests
Outdoors- hiking, biking, running, picnicking, rock climbing, etc; New experiences- traveling, new friends, languages, etc. Sports (at least Dan)- playing, following, watching.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Dan has been trained on the trapeze. This included catching a 250 pound 16-year-old while hanging from his knees.
Bryce grew up in a national forest, spent a year of her life farming with people with disabilities, and studied a Native American language that has only 6 remaining fluent native speakers.
Teach, Learn, Share
Dan envisions himself as a jack-of-all-trades, but is lacking in many aspects and has a long way to go. While living in Germany, he saw several things he wants to learn to do including glassblowing, barrel making, and blacksmithing.
Bryce would love to know as many languages as possible, and continue expanding her knowledge of gardening and farming. First she hopes to perfect her German umlauts.
Dan can talk about baseball or basketball for a long time. I wouldn't qualify this as teaching, but he thinks he has some astute insights.
Bryce knows all there is to know about grammar. Dan knows this well.
We both enjoy cooking, although admittedly are novices. It is always fun to try something new and hear how others prepare, serve, etc. a dish.
