ABOUT ME

I'm a open and hospitable person, especially when it comes to helping people with the odd task (to the point that I usually hurt myself going too far!). I spend too many hours listening to my favorite comedians, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, and Karl Pilkington, and loving their wry rants about the world. I spend most of my free time playing my guitar, my most prevalent and pursued passion. I sing too often, and often find myself playing music with my close friends. I'm difficult to eat out with, something I'm not ashamed to admit, mainly because of my vegan diet. I'm a huge proponent of animal rights, which fuels my diet and lifestyle. I currently live completely free of animal products (even my animals eat vegan food!). I'm also a lyricist and poet, although my poetry almost always gets woven into a song of mine. I enjoy traveling with friends, especially to see an indie show, mostly in Orlando, FL. Jacksonville, FL is my current residency, though I am heavily interested in moving to Brooklyn, NY to pursue a musical career (and embrace the Brooklyn culture!).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not entirely new to the travelers life, but I am rather new to the couch surfing community! I'm excited to begin meeting hosts and to one day host myself!

None so far, but extremely willing to begin!

Interests

Instruments grab my eye, being a musician and all, but specifically British music equipment. My favorite amp company is Orange Amplification, and I'm set on owning a Rickenbacker guitar. Although a waning interest of mine, I am drawn to computers, for I am an amateur freelance graphic designer. I design a majority of the underground bands flyers for Jacksonville, FL. I LOVE animals, and have 2 cats (1 rescued) and a chow/golden retriever mix that I rescued from euthanasia. Obviously, my diet is an engaging aspect of my life, as I love going to vegan-friendly restaurants and vegan-only restaurants.

Music, Movies, and Books

A few of my favorite movies include Momento, Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo.

Although undoubtedly cliche, my favorite books are The Picture of Dorian Gray, A Brave New World, The Fountainhead, and Alas Babylon.

My favorite artists/bands/musicians are Morrissey, The Smiths, Bayside, Polar Bear Club, The Fugees, Lemuria, Circa Survive, Bad Religion, Radiohead, and Streetlight Manifesto.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A staunch and awe-inspiring moment in my life was when I visiting the underground waterfall called Ruby Falls in Tennessee. Seeing a 145 foot waterfall 1120 underground is quite incredible. I've also been to the top of Mt. Zion in Utah, which was a holy mountain in the Mormon religion. Another awesome moment in my life was when I traveled to Belize, mainly because of the intense culture shock I experienced. In Belize I was part of a volunteer organization that helped construct and repair houses for the impoverished and elderly in some of Belize's poorest cities. The experience in of itself was amazing. Another awe-inspiring moment of my life was when I visited Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. Seeing the multitudes of eerily similar tombstones of our country's dead veterans definitely left an impact on me.
