À propos de moi

Hey all,

My names Dan, I'm 26 years old, I enjoy traveling to see new places, meeting new people. I'm very casual, laid-back, and open-minded. People describe me as 'being positive all the time' and that I'm never 'not smiling' :) hence why I got the nickname 'Cheese' in College... :-D I'm from a small, rural-city called Erie, Pennsylvania, raised on the outskirts so I enjoy anything outdoors like having bonfires, hiking, camping, cranking up the tunes, or bustin' out the acoustic guitar! all that good stuff!

At the moment, I can't host in Erie, PA but since i'm an Erie Ambassador i'd be more than happy to meet up and tell you about some of the unique bars or restaurants with live music or good craft beer! But- I can only drink about 1.5 of those and I'm TOAST!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I've always had a wanderlust to travel, and you know how life goes- you get a decent job, decent pay, so you stay! But recently, I've been able to see tons of great places like Austin, TX, Colorado, Toronto, and the Dakotas, . My dream job is to be a travel writer- because I love to immerse myself in the culture by meeting new people, hearing their story, and just seeing how immesnely different it is. I have friends from all over the world- places like India, Malaysia, China, and I really hope to visit them soon! For now, I want to experience the lifestyle of the West Coast. I feel that its going to be different from growing up in the East- because I love to talk to people! making friends with strangers, lol and putting it politely- that's not quite the norm around here!

Centres d'intérêt

Playing acoustic guitar, songwriting, poetry, raggae/island music, 90s alternative, 60s & 70s era singer/songwriters, longboarding, the beach -> sunsets, holistic health, big time Tea lover ;) I've toured Celestial Seasonings in Boulder, CO- definitely an awesome place!, kind of obsessed with essential oils at the moment!, mildly addicted to peanut butter, honey, and coffee... and any food thats Italian! I can make some tasty fried zuchinni and eggplant, or some cauliflower pasta! :)

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Drove half-way across the country from PA to Colorado- by myself. Its not as awesome as Coast to Coast but it was exhilarating! There's nothing like the open road, some of your favorite music cranked up with the windows down!

Hiked Harney Peak in South Dakota, camped out in Custer area, fended off a pack of coyotes with a Swiss army knife, payed tribute to Crazy Horse Memorial, and played some guitar on a peak of the Badlands... okay I made up the part about the coyotes but there was a huge pack of them very close to my tent.

"Do what you want to do, say what you want to say, because those who matter don't mind, and those who do mind don't matter." -Dr. Seuss

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

I'm not sure exactly- I'm an educator in K-12, colleges, and community groups on Healthy Relationships/Setting Boundaries, Bullying Prevention, Self-Esteem, etc. I can share any health and wellness advice, the good news of Jesus Christ and how he turned my life around and to this day gives me hope and comfort in any troubling times. I wouldn't say I'm "churchy" or even "preachy" cause I was never raised in a church. God came into my life at twenty-something and told me I was made new,... to forget that which is behind and press forward, toward the upward calling of Christ Jesus, and set my feet upon the rock. That's 'a relationship' not 'a religion'. I depend on it everyday, and every moment to give me strength and to lead me. The hope that is in me, does not disappoint. And whenever Jesus is in someones life- it shows... I can share that light that God wants me to show. =D
