About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living each day with my head up and my heart open.

ABOUT ME

I'm a spastic artist, Army Brat, love to travel and laugh my ass off and drink good wine. I'm generous, inquisitive, creative, determined and curious. Thinking about going back to school pretty seriously. Hopefully in the spring. I'm also in the process of just really simplifying my life. Just sold my car, biking everywhere, changing lots of things about my daily lifestyle in a positive way.

PHILOSOPHY

Live peacefully, simply, gracefully and generously. Laugh often. Smile like you mean it. Always drink the best wine and eat the best foods you can. Eat those meals with the people who build you up, love you and challenge you. There really is nothing like good food, good wine and good company. Travel everywhere you can and see everything you can. Humbly learn from everyone along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a newby to the site, but by no means a newby to this kind of lifestyle. Madre raised me to believe that if you have something to give, you give it, right down to a couch to crash on. This has always been a way of life for me. I moved into DC in September 2011. We're doing some house renovation type stuff and soon we can host you in our lovely home. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I found about the site from an old roommate of mine. He told me some things about the site. Maybe I'll find him on here! Donde esta mi Sachin?

Interests

art, photography, sculpture, cooking, wine, getting into finding good beers through my love of wine, love my morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine on a porch somewhere with a view, being social, meeting new people, trying new foods and seeing new places, road trips are the best. Camping and hiking are fantastic. I'm trying to read more but I have a tendency to get more excited about books that I can cut up and put into paintings as opposed to ones that I should be sitting still to read.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Listening to Band of Horses as I write this, but I listen to everything. The Smiths, Caribou, Sigur Ros, The Knife, Bob Dylan, The XX, Sam Cooke, Bob Marley, The Flaming Lips, Bellflur, Nick Drake, Damien Rice, The Arcade Fire, The Notwist, Snow Patrol, Tegan and Sara, The Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Hot Chip, Parov Stellar, LCD Soundsystem, Lovedrug, Malajube, The Format, mewithoutyou, Hammock, Andrew Belle (went to school with him- he's awesome),
fantastic 80's music.
Movies: Pretty much anything with John Cusack or Johnny Depp. I enjoy quirky artsy movies, dark comedies or psycholigical thrillers to most other things. Not really into most of the blockbuster movies or chick flicks.
Books: I like cutting up old reference books and putting them into paintings. If it was printed before 1930 and is all black and white, I'm interested.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was about 5 feet away from a humpback whale when I lived in Hawaii. I was on a boat and the whale swam right up to it. I could see its eye and it blew air out of its blowhole right next to me. It was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. I felt so small but so connected to the world at that moment. I wish I could watch a video of my face when I saw that whale and try to remember exactly what was going through my little 10 year old head.

Teach, Learn, Share

Never be so stagnant to believe that you could never challenge someone. Never be so pompous to feel that you could never learn something from someone.
