About Me

Will travel, usually with my camera in hand.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I use Couchsurfing to meet up with people as I travel, whether it's to find a place to stay or simply to get to know other courchsurfers, I think this idea rocks. Logistically, I can't host right now, but I'd like to give back to the community as soon as I can. I've spent some time couchsurfing around different countries, and met some really great people who have all shared their own unique experience!

Interests

I like climbing, taking photos, reading & writing, making music, spending time outdoors, water skiing, and of course, traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot growing up, but my favorites were Harry Potter, Tamora Pierce, Sherlock Holmes, and most fantasy novels. Right now, I'm reading The Botany of Desire, The Wild Trees, and Into Thin Air, and they're all amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking up to spend the night at Roy's Peak, in New Zealand, was one of the most incredible and unforgettable experiences I've ever had. By far. Two friends and I set off around 2pm on the hike up to the peak, which overlooks Lake Wanaka and the surrounding high country. One of the most difficult hikes I've done, the gradient is almost 1000 feet of elevation gain per mile hiked, all while carrying our packs with overnight gear (plus a not-entirely-necessary bottle of wine). We summited at 6pm, finding the entire peak covered in several feet of snow. With almost a half an hour of light left, we quickly set up our tent and crawled inside, ready for a long, cold night at the summit. We woke up the next morning (shivering) to an incredible sunrise over the mountains and lakes below us, a great highlight to the entire overnight experience.
