About Me
Kia ora! Dan here. The older I get, the more I realise the best thing in life is people and shared experience. The last few years I've been putting more work into my community, into the people around me, because this is what life is about - connection, understanding, growing with others.
I try to live my life by a simple philosophy - do what makes for the better story. And furthermore, try everything at least once - you never know what might turn out to be the best experience of your life.
I've also been getting really into skating lately. Did not expect to become a skater later in life, and yet here we are!
LGBTQIA+ Friendly.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Meeting people and making connections, for me that's what traveling is about. When I'm an old man, I will look back on my life - and sure, I'll remember the time spent im the mountains or hanging out on cliff faces.. But making friends in places you never imagined? That's what life is really about.
Interests
I love the outdoors! Mountain biking/climbing/hiking, anything that involves getting the blood pumping.. Sign me up!
Avid photographer.
Somewhat of a professional hitchhiker now, having done it regularly and reliably for over a year.
Music, Movies, and Books
Make me feel something, make me cry, make my heart yearn.. My favourite book that I recommend to everyone is The Five People You Meet in Heaven - moved me in some very difficult times in my life.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ran an ultramarathon, learnt to highline, got over my fear of heights
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to teach, I've taken people out for their first hitchhiking experience, taught them how to juggle, taken friends climbing, surfing, whatever!
