About Me

I'm married to an amazing woman who loves adventure as much as I do! I'm in medical school for the next forever, and my wife is in grad school, but we still plan on having adventures when we can. I come from a family that traveled a lot within the United States to visit extended family. My wife and I have been married 3 years now with no kids, but we have a big labradoodle that we love very much! We are Latter-Day Saints (Mormons), so we're pretty clean cut, but we love meeting new people from all kinds of backgrounds.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We want to see the world in the way a local would see it. Tourist-y stuff is cool, but we'd much rather get a feel for the way people live their lives. And if someone wants to do the same in our neck of the woods, then we're more than happy to help them.

Music, Movies, and Books

For music, we are quite eclectic. We like classical/instrumental, Broadway musicals, Frank Sinatra, classic and oldies rock, ACDC, classic country, and everything in between. We like a lot of stuff.

For movies, we like anything with good character development and a good story which usually means we like dramas. That doesn't mean we can't appreciate a good SNL cast in a movie or well done action films. Typically we stay away from movies like the Hangover, Stepbrothers, and other films with that standard of humor and language.

For books, we like fantasy, historical fiction, and even academic books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Even when we were newly married and dirt poor, we found a way to go to Ireland for a week with our university for travel-study. It was an awesome experience! The part of the trip we enjoyed the most was talking to a guy at the front desk of the national library. Up to that point we felt too much like tourists, but after talking to him for a good hour and a half, we felt like we understood a little better what it meant to be from the Republic of Ireland.

Teach, Learn, Share

We journey through food. We plan our trips around where we want to eat and then enjoy everything we can on our journeys to those places. Food says a lot about a specific region and it's culture and traditions. Even when traveling around our own country we steer clear of chain restaurants and research the most popular holes-in-the-wall or mom-and-pop joints to sink our teeth into.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love to laugh, talk, and share experiences over a good meal. What more could you want?
