About Me

I'm from a small town in Northern California, because of my small town upbringing I am in a constant state of wanderlust. After completing my undergrad I moved to Germany where I taught English for two years and traveled a lot. Now that I've finished my MA I am moving to Japan where I will begin teaching English at a University.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm very new to Couchsurfing but it seems interesting and have heard good stories of meeting cool and interesting people. I also like the idea of getting local perspectives on the cities I visit.

Interests

I'm kind of a nerd. I love video games and fantasy books. I'm also a former restaurant cook and love cooking and baking. As I mentioned earlier I also love traveling and visiting new places, cities, and meeting new interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a fan of most music except for American country.
I've seen and like many movies. My favorite directors are Akira Kurosawa, Werner Herzog, Ridley Scott, Joss Whedon, David Lynch, David Cronenberg, and Tarrence Malik although I like movies by many others as well.
I mostly read fantasy novels although after finishing my undergrad I started reading history books as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Germany hardly knowing the language and not knowing anyone. I've also piloted a hot air balloon and finished grad school.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach and tutor English professionally.
I'm also willing to teach and share my cooking and baking skills. I'd also love to learn new recipes and cooking techniques.
I also would like to learn about local cultures, customs, and language.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking skills, humor, stories, and a drink.
