About Me

So who am i? I am Daniel, currently 26 while i am updating my profile, born in the best city of the world (Nuremberg) and living in that city ;) I love to spend time with people from all over the world, doesn't matter if it is just talking about whatever we want to talk about and drinking a cold beer or experience some adventures. I am currently working on my PhD in the field of energy informatics, so the good old times of travelling around with my backpack for months are over.

As i said i am living in Nuremberg and i am sharing an apartment with one of my best friends. I know Max since i was 10 or 11, something like that. Max is also really open minded about meeting new people from all around the world and the first thing we agreed to for our apartment was: couchsurfing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A long long time ago, in a world of hobbits and orcs, i was travelling around for a few months. I didn't even know courchsufing existed until i was about to travel to New Zealand. Most of the time i was sleeping in the back of a car, but there was that one weekend in Auckland were i was staying with a couchsurfer...and that was an incredible experience. During my time in New Zealand i met a lot of Couchsurfers and had a really good time, but it has always been some small meetings somewhere at a pub or whatever. So after that trip, i had a new goal for my time back in Germany: become an awesome host like my first and only couchsurfing as guest (until now) in New Zealand. So here i am now, starting this whole thing.

In our hallway, there is a big white wall that just looks sad and empty. We want to start some kind of "couchsurfer wall". Just a picture of us together after your stay is enough, but if you have something to contribute to "the wall" that would be really awesome! Something from your home country, something selfmade, something painted, a postcard...whatever, it doesn't matter what it is, as long as we can somehow manage to put it on the wall and it can stay there "forever" ;)

UPDATE (after 1 year of hosting):
So if you read everything up to this point - congratulation! You are better than 70% of the people who request a stay at this moment. Couchsurfing is NOT just a very cheap way for you to stay in a city, it is about meeting people, having fun together and create good memories. I seriously always try to answer every request as nicely as possible, but for the future, i won't answer some of the requests at all. Which one? The ones that obviously didn't read anything about this here right now. The ones that send a generic copy and paste request to hundreds of different hosts, hoping to stay somewhere for free because they just care about the money. So if i just decline your request with no explanation at all i am really sorry, that's normally not how i treat other couchsurfers, but you wouldn't read this apology anyway so who cares.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not really a reader, i'm more the "i'll be waiting for the movie or tv series to air"-guy. And i really love to watch movies or tv series ;)

I'm open for any type of music but i guess my favorite kind is rock (toten hosen, rammstein, rise against, slipknot, queen, etc. etc.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That whole trip around New Zealand. There are just too many awesome things that happened during that time, but we can always talk about that in person.

Teach, Learn, Share

As you can guess, i am a scientist. And as a scientist i can say i have 2 big points how i could describe myself: i absolutely love to "discover" new things or i just want to "understand" everything.

I love to cook. So maybe we can cook together and i can teach you some (famous) german dishes?

What else do i really like? Sports! I know that i am not the best in actually doing sports (like playing soccer or anything else) but i love to watch some games too. Back at home me and some friends sometimes visit some games of the local clubs (soccer, basketball, handball and even darts).

Spending an evening with a good movie or tv show is always a good option. Or just spend a day with friends and enjoy doing nothing, just sitting together and have a good talk or a good beer. I was also in a dancing school for the last 7 years, so a dancing evening is always welcome (salsa, samba, tango, chachacha,...)

In the last 3 years i discovered that i want to try to do things all by myself instead of just buying them. For example brewing my own beer as a german ;) too bad i haven't done that for a long time now, maybe i should start that again.

What else? Good music (doesn't matter what genre) and going to music festivals, food, learning history of places i visit, driving around with my car or motorcycle, nature and beaches, videogames, travelling, cinema.

As i already said i am open for anything. I bet there is a lot of stuff i didn't do yet and will absolutely love doing it again.
