I grew up in the New York area. My dad was a travel editor for a newspaper so I was fortunate to be able to do a great deal of travel as I was growing up. I've lived in Virginia for many years now. I'm staff at the College of William and Mary (Virginia Institute of Marine Science) and work as a geographic information analyst in coastal resource management. I've always been curious about other cultures and love to learn about them!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a travel addict and try to go some place new and different every year. Usually I travel solo and independently. The most memorable experiences in my travels are the people I meet so this seems like the perfect way to do that!

Interests

I love travel (of course), hiking, biking. I've done soaring, diving, and sailing in the past. I'm a movie buff and a voracious reader. I love exploring new cultures and cuisines and really just try to experience and learn something new whenever I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read mostly nonfiction (history, science, adventure) but I enjoy some sci-fi (Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke mostly). I'll also read historical fiction occasionally.
I like most genre of films, love a good comedy but also adventure and horror. I love a bad zombie flick, I'm ashamed to say. I also like offbeat and foreign films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked for a year and a half through New Zealand, Australia, southeast Asia, India. Best time of my life.
