I used to be in the footwear & clothing trade, ran my own business in the UK from the age of 19. Started traveling asia for trade shows and business but became overwhelmed by new lifestyle possibilities. So I sold everything and became an English teacher and spent the last 2 years in SE Asia.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I was put on an island off the coast of borneo as part of a work away scheme to build a self sustaining eco project and guest house. I had a 2 week food package and 25l of water. The project owner had been called into hospital so I was left alone and unsupervised.
20metres from the building site was a crystal clear ocean with coral reefs.
No electric. No phone signal. No people for at least a mile.
I plodded on through the jobs list in the day. Swam when it got to hot. Pumped water from a well. Slept under a makeshift roof. Bought petrol from a boat owner for a small generator enough to run power tools. At 6pm every night the sun would set and there would be complete darkness like I'd never experienced. Dark enough to see every star in the sky and for the surf to fluoresce with luminous algae.
