Overview
About Me
I'm a single queer father living in Eugene with a few housemates. I lived in Eugene the last 18 years, and I was in Portland for 10 years before that.
I have a nice, steady faculty job as a Senior Research Assistant at the University of Oregon. I also perform musical theater and queer burlesque.
I took my one-man show, "Confessions of an Aging Twink," to the Victoria Fringe Festival last summer, and I will be taking it to the Vancouver Fringe Festival this September.
I have a great sense of humor, and I always make sure to use my humor for niceness instead of evil.
I've spent quite a bit of time during the last few years in Cameroon, and I'm engaged to be married to a Cameroonian man I met there. We're just waiting on his visa (it takes a really long time!)
My grandfather used to say, paraphrasing Ben Franklin, that life is too short to drink cheap wine. I try to live my life by that. He also said that money can't buy you happiness, but it sure can spare you a lot of misery!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Mostly, I've hosted couchsurfers, but I'd like to do a lot more travelling. I'm planning upcoming trips to New York City, San Francisco, Vancouver, and Israel.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In my youth, I spent a lot of time hitchhiking around the Pacific Northwest, and I ended up couch surfing a lot (when I wasn't sleeping under a tree). In a diner in Missoula, Montana, I was reading "My Travels With Charley", and a man asked me if I got to the part about Montana yet. I ended up staying with him and his girlfriend and fixing them breakfast in the morning.
Over the past 9 years, we've hosted many surfers (although we haven't been able to since the pandemic), and it's always been a wonderful experience. I've had a couple experiences surfing the couches of others, and I'd love to do that more. It seems that most places I visit because I have friends there, and I end up staying with them. I'm open to new places, though, so if you'd like to host me, just let me know.
Interests
I'm passionate about the theater, and I've done a fair amount of acting and stand-up comedy. I love to cook and eat, especially the abundance of organic local food we are blessed with here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. And I'm way too much of a wine connoisseur for my own good. I'm pretty active for someone with a sedentary job, and I love to go hiking by day and dancing by night.
