关于我

ABOUT ME

I'm handsome, pleasant, funny, a good conversationalist, a deep thinker, caring, intelligent, and most of all, literally the most humble person you have or will ever meet. Ever.

兴趣

I love experiencing the outdoors. My two favorite mediums for experiencing outdoorness is via offroad motorcycle riding and snowboarding. Hiking is also pretty great. I want to get into rock climbing / bouldering. I'm a fan of anime, I love a good movie (by which I mean a movie that will leave you sitting, starring at the screen for minutes after its end, a movie that leaves you with a sincere feeling of not being absolutely sure what just happened there), I read a good deal (Dostoevsky and David F. Wallace are a couple of my all time favorites), and I love to have conversations with strangers that surpass the typical "What do you do/What's your major" into realms such as "do you believe in the existence of free will within a deterministic system?"

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

When I think of "Awestruck", I think in particular of this moment on a trip I took with a bus full of 9th grade adolescence to the Hopi reservation in Arizona. I was watching the sun set in the beautiful red country, and reflecting on something I had heard earlier from a local, something about how even though we travelers came from a world of specific scientific explanations for almost every phenomenon out there, that even then, to this gentleman, who had lived his entire life on one of the holy Hopi Mesas, these mountains all around us had been put there by Giants, just as his ancestors believed. It was on this trip that I really seriously considered how silly everything we fully believe right now could look to our counterparts growing up in an age 500 years from now. I give that night credit for setting me in my personal perspective of pluralism*.

*You like that alliteration or what?
