I am a marine biologist and conservationist based in Sri Lanka but carrying out research internationally. At present I am studying manta and mobula rays!

I enjoy travelling, finding places off the beaten path, eating good food, watching movies and spending time on and under the water.

Movies: as long as its not horror! Recent favourites: Searching for Sugar Man, Grand Budapest Hotel, the Lunch box.

Music: Mostly oldies such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones, AC/DC but also modern main-stream (to an extent!). Quite a bit of jazz too. Hopefully own a turntable one day.

Books: Lots of variety - Game of Thrones, Life of Pi, fantasy novels, the occasional autobiographies, and comedy (Carl Hiaasen, Christopher Moore etc.).

And I think that everybody should read The Unnatural History of the Sea to understand the sorry state of our oceans.
