I'm calm, kind, and humorous. I have great affection for people, and I believe that by knowing each other, we can admire other possibilities of existence during the brief period we share on Earth. As a documentary filmmaker in training (I'm making my first film), I like listening rather than speaking. I can have a good meal on the second try (the first one, it tends to turn out a little strange), I love tea and coffee (I did a barista course when I left university), I'm interested in history and art. For the past two years, I had been a film professor at a federal university. I loved the experience of teaching screenplay, photography, cinematography, and documentary to dozens of students and was happy to be honored by a group of students in the ceremony of their diplomacy.

I usually spend a third of my awake-day working (whether in audio-visual work or studying for my thesis). Another part of my day, reading literature or watching movies (which is part of my profession as well). And, of course, the remaining hours in daily tasks of the house, in meals, in sports practices (I do Hawaiian canoe, swimming, and gym, depending on the day of the week). I love children and animals. I don't eat the meat of mammals or birds. I detest any kind of discrimination, social, racial, or gender.

I have been married to Djuly for three years. She is a great partner, very sweet, has a contagious, very sincere laugh and also an artist whom I admire, for her photos and sensitivity. I hope to spend my whole life with her. We expect to have children in 5 years (though she wants it to be earlier...). I have two brothers and a sister (she lives in Portugal), three nephews and a little and charming goddaughter of just two years. I miss them all ("saudades!"), including my mother, grandparents, uncles, and cousins, because I see them only two or three times a year when I travel to my birth city, Rio de Janeiro (I have been living in Florianópolis, in the south of Brazil since 2016).

(I left facebook a couple of years ago, and I do not use my twitter or Instagram account. But frankly, I'm thinking of rehabilitating them because of the trip I'm going to do to NYC in July.)

Sou calmo, gentil e bem-humorado. Tenho grande afeição pelas pessoas e acredito que ao conhecermos uns aos outros, podemos admirar outras possibilidades de existência durante o breve período que compartilhamos sobre a Terra. Como um documentarista em formação (estou fazendo meu primeiro filme), gosto mais de ouvir do que de falar. Posso fazer boas refeições na segunda tentativa (a primeira, costuma sair um pouco estranha), sou apaixonado por café (fiz curso de barista assim que saí na universidade), tenho interesse em história e arte. Nos últimos dois anos, fui professor de cinema em uma faculdade federal. E adorei a experiência de ensinar roteiro, fotografia e documentário para os estudantes - e fiquei muito feliz quando fui homenagerado por um grupo deles em sua cerimônica de formatura. Costumo passar um terço do meu dia acordado trabalhando (seja em trabalhos audiovisuais, seja estudando para minha tese). Outra parte do meu dia, lendo, ouvindo música ou vendo filmes (o que também é parte da minha profissão). O restante, em tarefas cotidianas da casa, em refeições, em práticas esportivas (faço canoa havaiana, natação e academia, dependendo do dia da semana). Adoro crianças e animais. Não como carne de aves nem de mamíferos. Eu detesto qualquer tipo de discriminação social, racial ou de gênero. Sou casado há três anos com Djuly, e esperamos ter filhos daqui a uns 5 anos (mas ela quer que seja em menos tempo), tenho dois irmãos e uma irmã (que vive em Portugal), além de três sobrinhos e uma linda e charmosa afilhada de dois aninhos. Sinto saudades de todos eles, incluindo minha mãe, avós, tios e primos, pois como vivo em Florianópolis (no sul do Brasil), os vejo apenas duas ou três vezes por ano, quando viajo para o Rio de Janeiro.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just joined Couchsurfing for a very simple reason: I'm going to New York, I do not know anyone in town and I do not know where to stay. I can not think of any better way to begin the six-month period I'm going to spend in NYC than to be welcomed by someone well-disposed, who wishes to make new friends, and who is endowed with a deep generosity and the recognition of fraternity between people and communities. I hope, as soon as I return to my city, that I can move my sofa forward.

Acabei de entrar no Couchsurfing por um motivo muito simples: estou indo para Nova York, não conheço ninguém na cidade e não sei onde ficar. Não consigo pensar em nenhuma maneira melhor para iniciar o período de seis meses que passarei em NYC senão sendo recebido por alguém bem disposto, que deseja fazer novos amigos e que seja dotadx de uma profunda generosidade e o reconhecimento da franternidade entre pessoas e comunidades. Espero, assim que voltar à minha cidade, poder passar meu sofá adiante.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach Portuguese, things related to Brazilian culture, history, and art (including a short course on Brazilian music, Tropicalismo and Cinema Novo)... how to use your camera, how to start writing a script...

I want to learn: almost everything you want to teach, languages, even though I have a special interest in learning gastronomy, yoga, tai chi chuan and things related to Eastern religions.
