Music, Movies, and Books
Since I play violin and piano, I'm going to have to say classical. More specifically, my favorites are late romantic, impressionism, early 20th century, basically anything as long as there are interesting harmonies. (absolutely adore Ravel, Debussy, Sæverud, ..)
Have really gotten into jazz, love Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Helge Lien, Lage Lund...the list will hopefully never end.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On a university bar crawl, my group came across an old discarded piano in front of a fraternity. Since it was around 1 AM and my companions were sufficiently drunk, I was able to convince them to help me carry the piano to my apartment on the other side of town in exchange for a drink. Of course, the piano was a little heavier than anticipated, so we rolled it (thank goodness 2 of the the wheels still rolled) to the next bus stop and waited for the bus. We were able to just barely fit it in, played a bit on the ride, got off at my stop and spent a good hour hoisting it up 8 or so steps. And that, kids, is when I decided to teach myself how to play the piano.
