About Me

CURRENT MISSION

no two days should be the same

ABOUT ME

Coming to terms with the fact that dance, visual culture, teaching and learning will go with me allthroughout life. Some sort of perpetuous student. Curious about old and current history and with an educated eye for contemporary dance and visual works. Reading writers with a voice of their own, disregarding the historical time they belong to, is amongst my most loved activities.

Friends and acquaintances and the ever-expanding circle of humans coming your way, from all walks of life, becomes a necessity. I am a very sensitive person, able to put myself in someone else's feet. Able to engage as well as to relax. Adventurous :)

PHILOSOPHY

"Tanz, tanz, anders sind wir verloren" Pina Bausch very wisely once remarked :)

When visiting a city for the first time, I enjoy daydreaming with a new life I could have. This always fills me up with excitement. New corners and atmospheres to discover, new people to engage with :)

There is always more out there than we originally tend to think.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in London were unfortunately I only rent a room and there I do not have a living room. Offering accommodation in the recently Olympic city seems unlikely at the moment as I would have to share my room, but I would be happy to help couch surfers to find their way around in this lovely city and possible cheaper-than-usual accommodation alternatives.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have participated in Hospitality club, similar to CS visiting and making friends in Budapest, Istanbul and Riga. Every stay was sn interesting experience. I tend to find equally enticing to see the life of a local as much as to get to know the historical features that shape a city. And friendships may develop along the way. What would be of a destination without its people?

Interests

I am a regular swimmer and biker in London. I go to see performances, mostly on conteporary dance, a bit as well of theatre. Author cinema, French cinema or Sundance film festival's selection is what I usually enjoy watching. Reading Junot Diaz, Herman Hesse, Deleuze, Michel de Certeau or Ortega y Gasset is always a task of pleasure. Give me a decent art and photography book and I'll be life-long grateful :)

I am currently studying a postgrad in which I am aiming to unite art theory, conteporary dance production and pedagogy as a new mean of transmitting knowledge. More news about it on 2013.

I like to explore the many layers and atmospheres the city of London has to offer. Nevertheless, although hard to do, I enjoy leaving London and spend quality time in other corners of the world where values and lifestyles are different.

Music, Movies, and Books

Dans Paris by Christopher Honore
Enter the void by Gaspar Noe
Fish tank
Tilda Swinton
Wim Wender's Pina Bausch
the Bike's thief by de Sica are amongst films and actors I have enjoyed recently.

Narcisus and Goldmund, the Revolt of the masses, the practice of everyday life, The wondrous life of Oscar Wao or Steppen Wolf were books that I found fascinating in the last months.

For music, listen to Alvaro Noto and Ryuchi Sakamoto in their version of Brian Eno's 'By this river'. I like to be part of electronic soundscapes. For the full music emotional immersion why not trying Leo Ferre, especially if understanding his magnificent lyrics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Performing a dance piece for 5 people in the corridor of Antwerpen's conservatorium in front of an audience of about 40 attentive minds. All wrapped in silence throoughout, only broken by the final applause.

Seen, probably the first time I came across the work of photographer's Wolfgang Tillmans.

Teach, Learn, Share

Dance, Visual arts, languages, history, architecture.

I believe in the still to be explored 'life long sector' meaning we can keep on reclycling and acquiring knowledge all across through our lives. Paulo Freire's model of informal education drawn in 'the pedagogy of the oppresed' has been a point of departure in these reflections.

We ultimately share through movement and language, so long life to words, music, visuals and to the choreography of everyday life :)
