About Me

CURRENT MISSION

“Keep not standing, fixed and rooted. Briskly venture, briskly roam.”

ABOUT ME

Roaming art professional lucky enough to travel and research about the cultures I interact with. Making my way with this career and excited to see how it runs its course!

I have wonderful friends and am blessed with a supportive family.

Open to whatever the universe has to offer. I think certain people come into our lives at a timely moment, to teach us something about ourselves and to help us in our growth.

PHILOSOPHY

In my opinion, life is not fixed or definite and what may seem long lasting becomes ephemeral and that which seems fleeting may very well stay. Speaking for myself, whatever moments I am fortunate enough to have should be lived poignantly. There is no time for spite or judgment. I am lucky to have loved and to be loved.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Having stayed with hosts in London and having opened my home to guests while studying in London - it's an experience that I want to keep on nurturing as time develops!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first time couchsurfing was a great experience staying for a few nights in London. Afterwards, I was lucky to meet some great people and host a few guests while living abroad myself as an expat.

Interests

I'm focused on my career and sincerely believe that the arts has the capacity to inspire, engage, inform, provoke, and enrich audiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am classically trained in Violin so have a deep respect for classical music. Of course, my music tastes are not exclusive to classical and I am a fan of Rufus Wainwright, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Paolo Nutini, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Edith Piaf, Lila Downs...

Regarding films, I am one of the uncommonly few, it would seem, who can say I have an ultimate favourite. The Hours directed by Stephen Daldry starring Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, and Meryl Streep.

In terms of books, John Steinbeck, what a man to behold. East of Eden takes my breath away and Grapes of Wrath makes me clutch at my chest. Richard Yates elevates ordinary dialogue to reveal deep profundity and complex character development. Revolutionary Road, Easter Parade, and Eleven Kinds of Loneliness are treasures. The dork in me has to highlight the grandeur of The Silmarillion by Tolkien. The Waves by Virginia Woolf humbles me in its execution of the most delicious form of stream of consciousness.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming in Lake Huron, the water was so clear that by full moonlight, I was able to see straight to the bottom.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a thing or two on Chinese and Japanese porcelain. I know my way around the kitchen. While I haven't played my violin in ages, if you're starting our I can teach you the basics. I've also enjoyed long term stays in the UK, Canada, and China - enough to share with you some great places to hang out.

What I Can Share with Hosts
